Waxed Floor Looks Dull?
  • Don't like the dreary surface of your floor? Mop it with a mixture of one cup of fabric softener in a half pail of water between your regular washings. It should look better.

Getting Rid of Paint Odors
  • If the room you've just painted smells, open windows and turn on ceiling fans. Air out the room. Put out several small bowls of household vinegar or a couple of large onions cut in half in the room.

Ice Cream Dripped on Shirt?
  • Read the care label first; soak it in cold water and then hand wash in warm, soapy water. Rinse well. If a greasy stain still lingers or the ice cream was chocolate, sponge the area with cleaning fluid. When the stain in gone, launder.

When You Store Linens
  • Clean them all before you put them into the storage closet. But don't spray starch on them because it can cause the fabric to yellow. Be sure the closet is dry to prevent mildew or a musty smell.

How to Stop Weeds from Growing
  • If you want to cut down on weed growth in your flower beds, cover the soil with bark, compost, leaves, mulch or plastic sheets. They will also help keep the soil moist.
